Celina Fund

My dearest Celina,

​

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of the childhood we shared. I still remember how we would wait all week for Fridays, rushing back to each other’s houses just to play, study, and spend every moment together. Even during the week, we somehow found ways to stay close. We shared secrets, stories, and dreams that no one else will ever know, a bond so rare, it was truly like no other.

Since day one, you supported me in every endeavor, especially those meant to give back to people. Remember when we used to host events together to support the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon? Or when I published my books, you were always there, cheering me on. Those small beginnings grew into projects on a much larger scale, but what always mattered most to me was knowing you believed in me. I also belived in you. Every patient you oversaw care for knows your pure heart like I do.

Few days before you passed, I texted you my birthday wishes. We had always celebrated our birthdays side by side, you surprising me on mine, and I surprising you on yours. Your last message to me, “Cheers to more success and health and happiness in all that you do,” broke my heart. Yet, in the same breath, it lit a fire inside me to keep going, to build something that would carry your name and your spirit forward.

That is why I dedicate this fund to you, Celina, and to your beautiful family, a.k.a my other family, a family I love deeply and will always hold as my own. Through this fund, we are setting forth on our 2030 Research Campaign against cancer, beginning with a goal of raising one million dollars. We will host events, build fundraisers, and move mountains to ensure that your legacy continues, touching lives far beyond what we can imagine.

Here at Melhem Scientific, your name and memory will forever inspire our work, faculty, researchers, studnets and every one of us. As the amazing nurse you were, your compassion will guide us as we direct resources and support toward nursing students beginning in 2026-27. Your story will live on through them, and through every life touched by the research and care this fund will make possible.
