Melhem Scientific Launches the Celina Fund to Honor the Legacy of Compassionate Nurse and Advocate

Boston, MA – [October 1, 2025] – Melhem Scientific announced the establishment of the Celina Fund, a new initiative dedicated to advancing cancer research and supporting the next generation of nurses. The fund honors the life and legacy of Celina Hawi, a beloved nurse and lifelong advocate for patients, whose compassion and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
The Celina Fund will serve as the cornerstone of Melhem Scientific’s 2030 Research Campaign Against Cancer, beginning with a fundraising goal of $1 million. The campaign will support research in cancer care, education, and innovation while also providing scholarships for nursing students starting in the 2026–27 academic year.

About the Celina Fund
The Celina Fund will:
Raise critical resources to advance cancer research as part of Melhem Scientific’s 2030 Campaign.
Support nursing students beginning in the 2026–27 academic year through targeted scholarships.
Honor Celina’s memory by fostering compassion, excellence, and innovation in healthcare.
The fund’s creation is also deeply personal. In a tribute letter, Nehme Melhem shared his lifelong friendship with Celina, recalling childhood memories, her support of his early philanthropic efforts, and her encouragement in his journey as a leader. “Your legacy starts here,” Melhem wrote, “and it will live on in every step we take.”
